The President of the Transition, His Excellency General Assimi GOÏTA, Head of State, granted an audience on Thursday 16 January 2025 to the ESA ministers and their Malian counterparts in charge of development issues. The ministers in question were the Ministers of Economy and Finance, Transport, Energy, Security, Mines and Agriculture. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the meeting of ESA development ministers in Bamako.
At the centre of the discussions was the implementation of the ESA roadmap, validated by the Heads of State of the Confederation last June in Niamey. The alliance of Sahel states is based on three essential pillars: defence, diplomacy and development. The aim of this 3-day meeting in Bamako with the experts is to work on implementing the actions identified on the roadmap with regard to the development pillar. The meeting with the President of the Confederation, His Excellency Army General Assimi GOÏTA, gave us clear instructions to speed up the implementation of concrete actions for the benefit of our populations’, said Burkina Faso’s Minister of the Economy, Finance and Forecasting, Mr NACANABO Aboubacar. He said he was reassured and committed to developing a clear and precise vision for the development of our Sahel region, with clear objectives to boost the socio-economic development of the ESA.
