The theme is « Justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparations » for 2025. These leaders have a card in their hand, the opportunity is right, and the situation on the continent is such that a setback will hurt Africa even more, one demonstrates. For this non-partisan global organization, only “bold and decisive action” on their part will give Africa the chance to secure its future. To this end, one is urging the Heads of State and Government to defend two transformative proposals at the heart of the African Union summit in Addis Ababa. Firstly, support for the cost-of-capital agenda under the South African presidency of the G20, in order to remedy the systemic financial inequalities that result in excessively high borrowing costs for African nations. Secondly, the replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF-17) with a target of $25 billion to unlock concessional financing for critical infrastructure, healthcare, education and climate resilience.

Citizens and friends of Africa, It is with deep gratitude that I present the plan for the second decade of Agenda 2063, the decade of acceleration. I would like to thank and congratulate citizens and friends of Africa for having completed the first decade of Agenda 2063. This first decade has been one of convergence. I am proud to say that Africa is increasingly adopting common positions on issues crucial to the continent’s development the continent. In addition, the regional economic, communities – the cornerstones of the “Africa we want”, are growing stronger, continental frameworks are increasingly becoming guiding instruments for negotiation and action with bilateral and multilateral partners.
